Md. Nasir Uddin (Special Correspondent) : Islamic Education Development Bangladesh has strongly demanded that Islamic education is compulsory at all levels of education and to eliminate all discrimination in education.
(Saturday, December 7) This call was made to the interim government in the meeting of the Executive Committee of Islamic Education Development Bangladesh at the old Paltan Azad Center.
Under the chairmanship of Dr. AKM Mahbubur Rahman, Deputy Secretary General Md. Abdur Rahman, Professor Dr. Hanif Khan, Mufti Maulana Badiul Alam Sarkar, Maulana Abu Zafar Salehi participated in the discussion.
Also participated in the meeting, Vice Principal Maulana ANM Mahbubur Rahman, Assistant Professor Mohammad Tauhidul Islam, Professor Abdus Chamad Jehadi, Noor Mohammad, Assistant Professor Akhtar Farooq,Maulana Mohebullah Jami, Prof. Kamal Uddin, Mr. Noor Mohammad, Mr. Md. Mainuddin, Dr. Taher Manzoor, Assistant Professor A: Hamid, Md. Zakir Hossain etc.
Highlighting 10-point demands in the meeting, the speakers said that in the last 40 years, not one Ibtedayi madrasa has been included in the MPO. Former Prime Minister approved inclusion of 4312 MPOs but it was not implemented. Ibtedayi madrassas should be nationalized immediately. Religion teachers should be appointed in primary schools.
The speakers said, the head of the secondary school was Maulana and assistant cleric. As earlier, Head Maulana and Assistant Mauluvi should be appointed in high schools.
Immediately allow the opening of Islamic education in all higher secondary level educational institutions and make Islamic education compulsory. Immediate action should be taken to open Islamic education in all public universities.
Colleges which have stopped honors should be reopened and teachers appointed. Independent Ibtedayi Madrasa Policy 2024 should be implemented immediately. Madrasah educated should be given equal access to all jobs.
Teaching of Islam and ethics should be made compulsory in administrative and institutional training courses. Jobs of private schools, colleges and madrasahs should be nationalized to bring them at par with government institutions.
