Md. Nasir Uddin (Special Correspondent): Former President A. Q. M. Badruddoza Chowdhury passed away on Friday around 3:00 pm while undergoing treatment. (Innalillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raziun).Amar Bangladesh Party-AB Party convener AFM Solaiman Chowdhury and member secretary Mojibur Rahman Manju have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of this veteran politician.
 
In a condolence message, the leaders said, Badruddoza Chowdhury had a colorful political life. He started politics in 1978 at the request of martyred President Ziaur Rahman. He was first elected Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Munshiganj in 1979 and served as a Cabinet Minister.
 
He was elected Member of Parliament for the second time in 1991 and became Minister of Education and then Deputy Leader of the National Assembly. In 1996, he served as the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in Parliament. He was last re-elected Member of Parliament in 2001 and served as Foreign Minister from October to November of that year.
 
He was sworn in as the President of Bangladesh on November 14 of the same year. However, he resigned from the post of President on June 21, 2002 due to political reasons. After that he formed a political party called Alternative.
The leaders prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul of Badruddoja Chowdhury and expressed their condolences to the family members.
