Md. Nasir Uddin (Special Correspondent) World Habitat Day-2024 is being celebrated in Bangladesh like the rest of the world with the theme "Involve the youth, build a better city".
Today (Monday 7 October) the day was celebrated with a colorful program at Rajuk Bhavan.
Under the chairmanship of Md. Hamidur Rahman Khan, Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Advisor to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Adilur Rahman Khan was the main speaker and Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change spoke as a special speaker in the discussion meeting.
Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan said in the speech of the main speaker, the quota system of Rajuk plot allotment should be canceled and it should be opened to the public through lottery.
He also said that the main goal of the July coup; Establishing non-discrimination society and state system on the basis of equality. The interim government is working consciously in this regard.
Whose Dhaka are you? Special speaker advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan said, "Dhaka cannot be for the benefit of some professional class, Dhaka must be for Dhaka residents."Syeda Rizwana Hasan also emphasized on involving the youth in the action plan taken to settle in a habitable environment.
Earlier, on the occasion of World Habitat Day-2024 celebration, RAJUK Chairman retired Major General Md. Under the leadership of Chiddikur Rahman Sarkar, a colorful rally took out and circled the various roads of the capital.
