Md. Nasir uddin (special correspondent) : Amar Bangladesh Party, AB Party, delegation met H.E. Yao Wen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh, on Sunday (29 December 2024)
at his office. Mojibur Rahman Monju, Member Secretary of the AB Party, led the delegation where Asaduzzaman Fuaad, a barrister-at-law and Joint Member Secretary and in-charge of International Affairs, Nasreen Sultana Mily, a barrister-at-law and in-charge of AB Party Women, Sunny Abdul Haque, a barrister-at-law and Shadow Affairs Secretary, Md. Prince Al-amin, Convenor of Bangladesh Students’ Party, BSP, accompanied Mr. Monju. Zhang Jing, Director of the Politcal Section, was also in attendance.
AB Party initially briefed Ambassador Yao about the formation of the party in 2020, organisation structure, strength across the country and central theme of second generation politics. AB Party also informed about its role in the anti-fascist movement during past years and over the Monsoon Uprising in July-August 2024, in particular.
AB Party appreciated China for its critical investment and contribution towards our economic growth. AB Party feels that there are more room for cooperation in the areas of trade and investment in Bangladesh. Due to increasing labour costs, Chinese companies are shifting their investment away to other countries; AB Party requested Chinese Ambassador to encourage them to shift investments to Bangladesh.
Ambassador Yao commented that China-Bangladesh bilateral relationship would be celebrating its fifty years in 2025. AB Party feels that China can share their historic achievement of getting one billion people out of poverty since late seventies. Tourism is another sector where Chinese companies can heavily invest and develop Bangladeshi businesses. Also more exchange of students and visitors from both sides is critical to move forward the people-to-people relationship in coming years.
